Early life and education

Bassey was born in Lagos, Nigeria in 1981. He studied international relations and politics at the  University of Lagos before moving to London to study Politics thereafter. Conversely, he studied music at Middlesex University Summer

Nathaniel Bassey (fondly called Nat) was born in Lagos, though he hails from Ikot Ofon Ikono, Akwa Ibom, Nigeria into a Christian home. He was born on the 27th of August 1978, to Mr and Mrs Bassey. His father, Mr Joshua Bassey was a Pastor of the Apostolic Church, Bashua Assembly. Nathaniel Bassey was exposed to music at a young age from attending church. He constantly listened to Dr. Panan Percy Paul who inspired his love for music.

Nathaniel Bassey had his primary and secondary education in Lagos, Nigeria. Also, he had part of his undergraduate studies at the University of Lagos (Unilag), where he studied Urban and Regional Planning for 2years before he gained admission to study Politics and International Relations at the University of London. This, he had to relocate to London to complete his tertiary education.
