Bassey was born in Lagos, Nigeria in 1981. He studied international relations and politics at the University of Lagos before moving to London to study Politics thereafter. Conversely, he studied music at Middlesex University Summer

Nathaniel Bassey (fondly called Nat) was born in Lagos, though he hails from Ikot Ofon Ikono, Akwa Ibom, Nigeria into a Christian home. He was born on the 27th of August 1978, to Mr and Mrs Bassey.
