How Create a YouTube Kids account

Posted on 16/03/2025 By Richard No Comments on How Create a YouTube Kids account
GOOGLE UPDATE

YouTube Kids allows signed in parents to create a separate profile for each kid in their household. Each profile has a separate set of viewing preferences and recommendations, allowing multiple kids to get the most out of the YouTube Kids app.

These profiles are available on any device where the parent is signed in and the YouTube Kids app is installed.

Create a profile

Kid profiles are only accessible within the YouTube Kids app and only when a parent is signed in. You can add up to eight profiles per account.

If you are new to YouTube Kids

  1. Open the YouTube Kids app, and follow the on-screen prompts.
  2. When prompted, enter the year you were born.
  3. Choose whether or not to sign into the app to get greater access to features and parental controls.

If you choose to sign in

  1. If you already have an account on your device and want to sign in with that account, select it and tap Sign in. If you do not yet have a Google Account you wish to use on your device, please add or create a Google Account by following the prompts. After you add your account, tap Sign In.
  2. Read the YouTube Kids parental consent information. If you agree, tap Done and enter your password.
  3. Set up a profile for your child. We’ll try to customize the app for your child’s age. When you provide month of birth, the app will use this to more accurately provide an age-appropriate experience. Only you and your child can see this information.
  4. Select a content experience for your child.
    • Preschool (Ages 4 & under)
    • Younger (Ages 5-7)
    • Older (Ages 8-12)
    • Approve content yourself
      • The Preschool content setting (ages 4 & under) allows kids to watch videos that promote creativity, playfulness, learning, and exploration. Search results in Preschool are limited to content recommended for kids 4 and under.
      • The Younger content setting (ages 5-7) allows kids to search and explore songs, cartoons, crafts, and more.
      • The Older content setting (ages 8-12) allows kids to search and explore additional music videos, gaming, science, and more.
      • With Approve content yourself, your child will only be able to watch videos, channels, or collections that you’ve approved. Collections are videos and channels grouped by topics such as science and music. With this setting, your child won’t be able to search.
  5. You will now take a parent feature tour of the YouTube Kids app, which highlights where to find parental control settings and how to block and report videos.
  6. Your child can now use YouTube Kids. Select the profile of the child using the app to get started. You can return to Settings  at any time to change your parental control options.
