Manage the payment information that you use for the App Store, iTunes Store, iCloud, and more. When you change your payment information, it’s automatically updated for all apps and services that you use with your Apple ID.
How to change your payment method on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap your name, then tap iTunes & App Store.
- Tap your Apple ID (which is usually your email address), then tap View Apple ID. You might be asked to sign in.
- Tap Manage Payments. (If you’re using an older version of iOS, tap Payment Information.) Then add, update, reorder, or remove your payment methods:
Update a payment method
Tap the payment method, then edit your information. You might need to enter the security code that’s printed on your credit or debit card.
If you see Apple Pay after the last 4 digits of the card number, go to the Wallet app to edit the card information.
Add a payment method
Tap Add Payment Method.
Remove a payment method
Tap Edit, then tap the Remove icon or swipe left and tap delete.
Change the order of your payment methods
Tap Edit, then use the move order icon to rearrange your payment methods. Apple will attempt to charge payment methods in order from top to bottom. You can’t change the order in which Apple ID balance is charged.
How to change your payment method on your Mac or PC
On a Mac, edit your payment information in the App Store. On a PC, use iTunes.
How to change your payment method on a Mac
- Open the App Store on your Mac.
- Click your name or the sign in button at the bottom of the sidebar.
- Click View Information.
- Next to Payment Information, click Manage Payments. (If you’re using an older version of macOS, click Edit to the right of Payment Type.) You might be asked to sign in with your Apple ID.
- From here, you can do these things:
- Update a payment method—Click Edit next to the payment method. You might need to enter the security code that’s printed on your credit or debit card.
- Add a payment method—Click Add Payment.
- Remove a payment method—Click Edit next to the payment method, then click Remove.
- Change the order of your payment methods—Hover your pointer over a payment method, then use the move order icon . Apple will attempt to charge payment methods in order from top to bottom. You can’t change the order in which Apple ID balance is charged.
How to change your payment method in iTunes for Windows on your PC
- Open iTunes.
- In the menu bar at the top of the iTunes window, click Account, then click View My Account.
- Sign in with your Apple ID.
- Make sure that what’s listed on the Account Information page matches the information on file with your financial institution.
- Click Manage Payments to the right of Payment Information. (If you’re using an older version of iTunes, click Edit to the right of Payment Type.)
- To update a payment method, click Edit. To add a payment method, click Add.
- From here, you can update, remove, add payment methods. If have have multiple payment methods, you can change the order. Apple will attempt to charge payment methods in order from top to bottom. You can’t change the order in which Apple ID balance is charged.
How to change your payment method on your Android device
You can edit your payment information on an Android device, but doing so will remove all payment methods except your primary method from your Apple ID and from other devices that you use with your Apple ID. To avoid this, use a Mac or PC to update your payment information.
- Open the Apple Music app on your Android device.
- Tap the menu button in the upper-right corner.
- Tap Account.
- Tap Payment Information.
- Change or remove your information. To remove the payment method, select None.
- Make sure that your name and billing address exactly match the information on file with your financial institution. Then tap Done.
How to edit your payment information
Try updating to the latest version of iOS or iPadOS or macOS.
If you have subscriptions, have an unpaid balance, or share purchases with your Family Sharing group, you can’t remove all payment information. Get help if you want to use no payment method with your Apple ID.
